Heat Exchanger Clean

Overview of Project:

Vent condenser on the brine concentrator becomes blocked and results in reduced flows.

Scope of Works:

Use high pressure jet rod to descale the vent condenser.

Innovations:

Fabricated a catch and drain to control the discharge. Previously the cleans had been completed without this device and the scale was free to contaminate the steel structure and surrounds.

Challenges:

Working at height, working with high pressure water.

Conclusion/Outcome:

The clean was successful on several occasions. The process was changed, and this resulted in the cleans being less frequent; the scale became harder and required ultra-high pressure to clean.
